CJ's First Basketball Game!

I was lucky enough to win some tickets to the Phoenix Suns vs Denver Nuggets game. We attended last night and it was a great time. CJ really got into the game. He was actually watching and joining in with the crowd when they clapped and cheered. It was funny because we were dressed in the opposing teams colors! I will definitely have to look into taking him to future games.

CJ and I getting ready to head to the game...sporting Denver's colors :)

Auntie Anette got to join in on the fun!

Video Fun..

Just a few videos we took on our very relaxing Saturday...

Our Day at the State Fair

Last weekend CJ , his aunt and I went to the state fair. It was a blast. We loaded up on food (everything was fried), junk, games, lots of people and farm animals. CJ seemed to enjoy the farm animals the most.
He got to see a pig

He got up close to a cute little goat too!

Fried oreos!! This was a big hit with all three of us. We joked about buying a deep fryer...but we would all be fat with cavities lol.

My little boy is growing up so fast. I am so happy and blessed to be able to take him to experience these different events.

He had so much fun he passed out before we even left the fairgrounds. Adorable!!!

The Sweetest Face

Even when he is a mess I can't deny how how cute his little face is. :)

Fall Fun with CJ

It is finally starting to cool down in this new city of ours. There are no streets full of beautiful orange and yellow leaves or crisp cool nights but at least it isn't 107 degrees anymore. With the weather in the 90's there has been a lot more outside activities for CJ and I to get into. Plus, Halloween is right around the corner so corn mazes and pumpkin patches are popping up all over the place. Below are some pics of some fun things we have done over the past few weeks.

CJ has such a grown man face. He is so cute!
We are getting ready for a fun night at the corn maze.

CJ was a little unsure why his mother took him into a field full of plants. He eventually got into though.

CJ really liked his little pumpkins. It took him a few throws to figure out they weren't balls. :)

Adventures in Daycare

Today was CJ's first day at his new daycare. Actually it was his first FULL day at daycare ever. He was all excited this morning as I was getting him ready. The look on his face when he realized he was leaving home with me was priceless. He is used to mommy just leaving but today he got to come with. When we got to the daycare he stayed pretty mellow. He even let his teacher hold him, surprise surprise. When he realized I was leaving, however, the tears and screams started. the tears started flowing from my eyes as well.

His teacher, Miss Precious, assured me he would be comfortable. She took my cell # and said she would send me pics throughout the day. I am so happy she did that. At about 11:00 am I got my first picture.

CJ was exploring the playroom. He stopped crying about 10 minutes after I had left. Thank goodness. I didn't want my baby to be sad all day. At this point there was only 1 other child in the room with him. That was good too so that he wouldn't be too overwhelmed.

Of course CJ got a nice, long nap in!

CJ mostly observed the other children. He didn't eat much of the food he was offered. He also held tight to his favorite buddy, Winnie the Pooh. I love this picture! They look like they are having a serious business meeting or something along those lines :)

I picked my lil man up around 4pm. When I pulled up, I spotted him right away. He was outside trying to figure out a certain toy. When I came into the yard he looked up and smiled. He didn't run into my arms like I thought he would (hoped he would). He kept on doing what he was doing. Hahaa so independent now! Finally he came up to me and gave my legs a hug then ran to the door like "let's go mom!" During the car ride home he was so talkative! When we got home he was all smiles for about an hour. After that hour though he started to show signs of sleepiness. I'm sure the day wore him out.

I know he will get used to going to daycare and will actually start to enjoy it. I feel good about the place he is attending. I think all of this was harder on me than him anyway. My only concern is that he doesn't like to eat with strangers. So hopefully as he gets used to the other kids and his teacher, his appetite will come back. Anyways, CJ did great today. Tomorrow should be even better!

CJ is 18 Months Today!!

Oh how time has just zipped by! My baby boy is officially 1 1/2 years old. This is a little overwhelming to me. It literally seems like yesterday I was a brand new mom with a brand new beautiful little baby. My baby is still beautiful but he isn't so little...and I can see how he is already growing out of the "baby" tendencies. It kind of breaks my heart but then I also have this feeling of pride because he is so smart. He is sooo adorable. He is such a character. Oh how I love my lil CJ. The joy and lessons he has exposed me to just in these last 18 months has been life changing and almost life saving. CJ is my biggest motivation. We have our rough days but honestly they always end with a smile, hug and kiss. I hope our bond sticks throughout the years. He is the best! 18 months!!!

Cute as can be

Just a  pic of the cutest baby ever...

CJ feelin' the spirit...

I don't always take CJ to church with me but when I do, for the most part he behaves. This morning he really enjoyed the service. He was holding up his hands, clapping and even singing along with the choir. I was so happy that he just chilled and observed what was going on around him. That let his mommy really listen to the message. CJ will be going to church with me regularly now but will most likely hang out in the nursery. :)

Funny Face

CJ has started to show a new habit. Every time CJ sees the flash from my camera, he cocks his head back and flashes a funny grin. I have no idea where he got this from but it cracks me up. It also shows his daddy's genes. Well check out the lil ham below...

Children's Museum Visit

Today CJ and I went to the local children's museum. It was the free admission night..and I must say A LOT of families came to take advantage of this awesome night! CJ and I have never been but it was a great first time experience! The had a special "3 and under" room. Thank goodness for that. When we walked in CJ had bright eyes but stayed close to me. I could tell he wanted to take off but was a little scared of all the unfamiliar faces around him. He even clinched my legs as other adults or even kids came close. Eventually he loosened up after I explored the area with him. I can't wait till next week's free night!

Some videos of our lil adventure:

CJ's New Accomplishment

I'm so proud of my big/lil boy. He has gone to sleep by himself for the past three nights. I didn't take the traditional route of teaching CJ how to self soothe when it came to sleeping...which I later paid for. On the average night I would have to rock my baby to sleep..sometimes that would take up to an hour! Of course we had established a bedtime routine but that finally element of rocking him to sleep could really lead to rocking myself to sleep.I love playing around with CJ during the day, but when he goes to bed, that is my time. That is mommy's time to do..whatever lol.

So the other night, I read him a story, laid him down and rubbed his back for about 5 minutes, kissed his cheek and left the room. He cried..actually he screamed and cursed me out baby style. Then I heard his cries start to drift. I checked on him 20 minutes later and my lil boy was knocked out holding tight to his pooh bear of course! SO CUTE!

The next night I tried the same thing. This time he simply whined and then fell asleep. Tonight he didn't even whine!! SUCCESS! Wow..I really should have tried doing this awhile ago haha. I have to give my boy more credit and faith. He is so smart and capable...he just pushes my limits, as most kids do. So now, mommy gets so time to blog! I'm sure I will miss rocking him to sleep, but tonight I am simply proud of CJ's accomplishment.
